Oliver Cheatham
Oliver Cheatham (born February 24, 1948 in Detroit , Michigan , USA ; † November 29, 2013 ) was an American singer .
Life
Cheatham was persuaded by his mother to be a musician at a young age. So he sang as a member in several groups until one noticed his talent. The record company MCA Records signed a contract with him and took care of the distribution of his albums .
1983 came with the first album ( Saturday Night ) and the hit Get Down Saturday Night the success. This title rose to the top 40 in the UK singles chart . The various remixes were also in demand. Over time, this song became the reference for many musicians (for example Def Bond, Franz Ferdinand or Daft Punk ).
In 2003, in collaboration with Room 5, the new edition of Get Down Saturday Night came out under the name Make Luv . This song peaked at number 1 on the UK charts and stayed there for 15 weeks. In 2005 another new edition of the old song came out in collaboration with DJ Michael Gray . In 2007 the album Saturday Night was offered for sale for the second time, with new songs.
In Germany, Cheatham was last on stage on April 27, 2013 at the Baltic Soul Weekender . He died on November 29, 2013 of complications from a heart attack .
