Iztok Osojnik (born July 27, 1951 in Ljubljana ) is a Slovenian writer .

Life

Osojnik studied comparative literature at the University of Ljubljana , his teacher was Dušan Pirjevec . With the poet Jure Detela , he brought out a sub-real manifesto and was part of the avant-garde group Pisarna Aleph . Between 1980 and 1982 he studied for a Masters at Osaka Gaidai University in Osaka , Japan . He has been invited to various fellowships and guest lectureships: in 2000 he was a fellow at the Cambridge Seminar on Contemporary British writers, in 2001 a fellow at the Goethe Institute in Berlin , and between 2002 and 2003 he visited the USA with the Fulbright program . The literary festival "Kristal Vilenica", founded in 1986, was under his direction between 1999 and 2004.

He has published various collections of his poems, has written four novels to date and has received various awards. There are translations in several European languages. Osojnik published anthologies of Slovenian literature in English translation.
