Ján Zlocha

Ján Zlocha (born March 24, 1942 in Bratislava , Czechoslovakia , † July 1, 2013 ) was a Czechoslovak football player . The defender won the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1969 and made his debut in the Czechoslovak national team that same year .

Athletic career

Zlocha played from 1964 for FC Spartak Trnava in the adult area. In 1966, the defensive player moved to reigning champions Dukla Prague , with whom he reached the semi-finals in the European Cup of National Champions 1966/67 , but returned after just one season. In 1967 he won his first title with Spartak Trnava when Sparta Prague was defeated in the finals for the Czechoslovak National Cup . This success was followed in the following season by winning the championship title five points ahead of runner-up ŠK Slovan Bratislava . He joined this after the end of the season, with the reigning cup winner he moved into the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1968/69 . In the 3-2 win over the Spanish representatives FC Barcelona he was in the starting line-up, the club became the first Eastern European European Cup winner. After a runner-up in the Czechoslovak league, he won the championship with his new club in 1970. In the 1970/71 European Cup he reached the last sixteen with the club, and he had one of his rare goalscorers in the first round in a 2-1 first leg win against the Danish representative B 1903 Copenhagen . In 1974 he ended after 203 league games in which he had scored eight goals, with the third league title of his career, the active career.

Between 1969 and 1970 Zlocha played four international matches for the Czechoslovak national team. He was part of the squad at the 1970 World Cup under selection coach Jozef Marko . He played in the second group game, a significant 1: 2 defeat against Romania , his only tournament game and last international match.
