The Jägersee , formerly also called Eilsee , is a lake in Salzburg at the head of the Kleinarl valley in the municipality of Kleinarl , created by damming . It is located at an altitude of 1099  m in the Radstädter Tauern . The weir was at the latest in the 17th century. built on a natural threshold, which is formed by the cones of the murals of the Maureck- and Rossfeldgraben on the left bank and the Jägergraben on the right bank. Just like the larger Tappenkarsee above, the Jägersee is traversed by the Kleinarlbach and thus supplied with fresh water.

The Jägerhaus am See, formerly known as the Eil , was built in 1718 by the Salzburg archbishops , and since the 20th century the estate has been privately owned by the Nesselrode family, who run the hunting and fishing business.

Due to its location in the landscape protection area ( LSG18 ), the Jägersee is a popular destination. It can be reached directly by car or public transport, but from Kleinarl, just a few kilometers out of the valley, a well-developed footpath and cycle path can be used to get to Jägersee without much effort. A pram-friendly promenade leads around the lake. At the lake there is a lake terrace as well as a rowing boat rental.

From the Jägersee, families and hikers can take the “2-lake hike” to the Tappenkarsee (walking time from Jägersee approx. 3 hours, from the Schwabalm car park approx. 2 hours). In winter, a trail leads from Wagrain to Jägersee. The promenade around the lake can also be used in winter.

The lake was filled with char from the Tappenkarsee.

The Jägersee runoff drives a small power plant built in 1979 with a bottleneck output of 77.2 kW (annual standard energy capacity of 460 MWh).
