Jón Bjarnason (2007)

Jón Bjarnason (born December 26, 1943 in Asparvík , Westfjords ) is an Icelandic politician.

Between 1999 and 2013 Jón was a member of the Icelandic parliament Althing , first for the (old) Northwest constituency, since the electoral redistribution in 2003 for the Northwest constituency . Since 2009 he was chairman of the parliamentary group of the left-green movement . Between 2009 and 2011 he headed the Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture .

Jón turned away from the left-green movement and ran together with Atli Gíslason unsuccessfully in the 2013 parliamentary elections in Iceland for the Regnboginn party .
