Jón Laxdal
Jón Laxdal Halldórsson (born June 7, 1933 in Ísafjörður , Iceland ; † May 15, 2005 in Kaiserstuhl , Switzerland ) was an Icelandic-Swiss actor and director.
Life
He was known under the name Jón Laxdal . He was the twelfth child of an Icelandic fisherman and studied at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna.
He played, among others, Garðar Hólm in Fish Concert ( Brekkukotsannál , 1972) and the farmer Steinar in Paradise Found again , the two novels by Halldór Laxness that Rolf Hädrich filmed in Iceland. In 1973 he bought a house in Kaiserstuhl in Switzerland and founded his own theater there, where he was director, director and leading actor until the end.
In 1989, the citizens of Kaiserstuhl Halldórsson denied Swiss citizenship by 68 to 51 votes. Among other things, the small community took offense at the fact that he was living with a man and staging plays by critical authors such as Max Frisch or Friedrich Dürrenmatt . In 1993 Halldórsson was naturalized anyway, this time without opposition.
Halo Locher published his biography in 2011 under the title "Life and Theater of Jón Laxdal".
