József Csermely

József Csermely (born January 3, 1945 in Kunhegyes , Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County ) is a former Hungarian rower .

In 1967 the four-man without a helmsman from the GDR won the European Championships in Vichy in front of the boat from Hungary with László Lucsánszky , József Csermely, György Sarlós and Csaba Czakó .

At the 1968 Olympic Games , the Hungarian four-man without a helmsman with Zoltán Melis , György Sarlós, József Csermely and Antal Melis won the second run with over eight seconds ahead of the Italian four-man. In the final, the East German four-man with the same line-up as in 1967, who had also won the first heat, won two and a half seconds ahead of the Hungarians, the Italians received the bronze medal. The following year, the Hungarian four-man competed at the European Championships in 1969 with the same line-up as in 1968, with the Soviet four-man winning ahead of the Hungarians and the four-man from the GDR.

At the European Championships in 1971 , József Csermely finished fourth with the Hungarian eighth . After he was eliminated at the 1972 Olympic Games with the four without a helmsman in the repechage, József Csermely reached fourth place again with the Hungarian eighth at the 1973 European Championships .

József Csermely started for the Csepel SC club from Budapest.
