Zoltan Melis

Zoltán Melis (born September 11, 1947 in Budapest ) is a former Hungarian rower .

At the 1968 Olympic Games , the Hungarian four-man without a helmsman with Zoltán Melis, György Sarlós , József Csermely and Antal Melis won the second run with over eight seconds ahead of the Italian four-man. In the final, the GDR foursome, who had won the first heat, won with two and a half seconds ahead of the Hungarians, the Italians received the bronze medal. The following year, the Hungarian four-man competed at the European Championships in 1969 with the same line-up as in 1968, with the Soviet four-man winning ahead of the Hungarians and the four-man from the GDR.

At the European Championships in 1971 , Zoltán Melis finished fourth with the Hungarian eighth . After a seventh place for eighth at the 1972 Olympic Games , the Hungarian eighth reached fourth place again at the 1973 European Championships .

Zoltán Melis started for the Csepel SC club from Budapest.
