Jörg Baltzer

Jörg Baltzer (born October 11, 1941 in Wuppertal ) is a German gynecologist. From 1989 to 2006 he was director of the women's clinic at the Krefeld Municipal Clinic .

Career

After studying medicine , which he completed in 1967 with a doctorate at the University of Düsseldorf , and specialist training in gynecology , he received his habilitation in 1979. In 1984 he was appointed senior physician in charge of the 1st University Women's Clinic in Munich. As the successor to Paul-Georg Knapstein , he was Director of the Women's Clinic at the Krefeld Clinic from July 1989 until his retirement in 2006. He was also the medical director of the clinic from 1998 to 2000.

Baltzer has published more than 500 scientific articles and ten specialist books in the field of obstetrics and gynecology.

Baltzer is married and has two children.

Honors

  • 1981: Georg Zimmermann Prize for Cancer Research from the Hannover Medical School for the habilitation thesis
  • 2007: Honorary member of the WHO / UNICEF initiative "Baby-friendly hospital"
  • 2010: Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany
