Paul-Georg Knapstein

Paul-Georg Knapstein (born July 25, 1938 in Ensheim ) is a German gynecologist and has been a professor in Faculty 04 University Medicine at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz since 1989 . Previously, he was director of the women's clinic at the Krefeld municipal clinic .

Life

Knapstein is the son of the doctor Paul Knapstein, who died in 1967 and who headed the Peter Franz Otto Hospital in Ensheim in Saarland from 1935. In 1965 he submitted his dissertation to the Medical Academy in Düsseldorf .

In 1986 Paul-Georg Knapstein was chairman of the Lower Rhine-Westphalian Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics (NWGGG). In 1989, Knapstein left the Krefeld Clinic (successor: Jörg Baltzer ) and took over the chair of Volker Friedberg , who retired in 1988, at the University of Mainz (inaugural lecture: November 16, 1989) as well as the management of the University Women's Clinic. In the same year he founded the Working Group for Information Processing in Gynecology and Obstetrics (AIG) in the German Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics (DGGG) in Mainz. Since 1981 he has been involved in a Rotary Club in Krefeld , has been a member of the Rotary Club Mainz-Churmeyntz since 1989 and participated in peace projects in the Middle East .

Volker Friedberg was one of his teachers and Klaus Friese was one of his students .
