Jörg Freiherr Frank von Fürstenwerth

Jörg Freiherr Frank von Fürstenwerth (born July 7, 1954 in Hamburg ) is a German lawyer and has been a member of the executive committee and chairman of the general management of the German Insurance Association since 1996 . V. (GDV).

Life

After graduating from high school and doing military service, Frank von Fürstenwerth studied law, political science and economics in Bonn and London . Practical legal training ( traineeship ) he graduated in Cologne , Berlin and Washington, DC in 1985 he received his doctorate with a thesis on foreign trade law at the University of Cologne to Dr. iur. From 1983 to 1987 he worked as a lawyer in an international law firm . In 1987 he moved to the German Insurance Association. V. (GDV): Since 1996 Frank von Fürstenwerth has been an executive member of the executive committee and chairman of the executive board of the German Insurance Association .

Frank von Fürstenwerth is u. a. Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation V. (IRZ Foundation), deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Remembrance, Responsibility and Future Foundation , member of the administrative board of the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority , member of the board of the insurance ombudsman association , member of the supervisory board of the pension insurance association, mutual insurance association, member of the main committee of ICC Germany, member of the executive Committee, CEA - insurers for Europe. and member of the board of trustees of Stiftung Warentest . Frank von Fürstenwerth has been a member of the EESC in Brussels since December 2011 (Council decision of December 19, 2011, OJ of January 5, 2012 L 2/5). He already held this office from 2002 to 2006.

In 2011 Frank von Fürstenwerth received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his commitment to compensating victims of the Holocaust .
