Jörg Holkenbrink (born September 22, 1955 in the Ruhr area ; † April 3, 2020 in Bremen ) was a German theater director and educational researcher .

Life

Jörg Holkenbrink was the artistic director of the Center for Performance Studies at the University of Bremen and the inventor of the Assembly Theater attached to it , which is considered one of the first research stages in Germany . Holkenbrink's main areas of work included productions between education, science and art as well as the development of methods for research-based theater. In 1993 Holkenbrink was awarded the Berninghausen Prize for excellent teaching and innovation in higher education.
