The Fronbach is a 3 km long creek in the Mainhardt Forest on the municipality marker of Oberrot in the district of Schwäbisch Hall in northeastern Baden-Württemberg , which flows into the lower Fichtenberger Rot from the right and west in the local area of Oberrot .

geography

Spring streams

The two sources of the Fronbach are about 2.5 km west of Oberrot on the plateau to the right of the Rottal in a wooded area between the districts of Ziegelhütte , Wolfenbrück and Glashofen . The source branch running in the drinking blade begins about 350 m southwest of the brick hut at about 480  m above sea level. NHN runs its course close to the Ziegelstrasse, which runs along the edge of the forest, from Oberrot to Wolfenbrück, and the one that flows off through the Steinlklinge is about 650 m southwest of the Ziegelhütte at about 475  m above sea level. NHN in a meadow clearing next to the junction to Glashofen from Ziegelstraße. Both branches flowing about 0.7 kilometers east and then to the east of Gewanns Two Miter from noticeably recessed valley seem to Fronbach together.

course

For the first kilometer of its course, the Fronbach continues to flow westward in the forest between Gerwald on the left and Schlosswald on the right slope, while its initially narrow valley widens more and more. Then hillside meadows come to its left bank, while three tributaries run from the castle forest on the right from the upper slope. Then he leaves the forest completely behind him and walks through meadows, accompanied by the gallery, towards the edge of the soft patches of Oberrot, which he soon reaches. At first it flows openly through orchards, then at about a hundred meters through the town center, where it also crosses Rottalstraße L 1050. Immediately after this it flows openly again and soon in an arc around the northern edge of the rather small old settlement core and then again under trees through the right floodplain to the lower bridge of the Rottalstrasse. There it flows into the lower Fichtenberger Rot from the right and west, 3.0 km below its sources.

Catchment area

The Fronbach drains 2.2 km² of the Mainhardt Forest in the east of the Rot. Its catchment area extends about 3.3 km from its western tip in the Fallen forest between Wolfenbrück and the Ziegelhütte to the mouth at its eastern tip. Across it, it is a maximum of 1.1 km wide. The greatest height in it is reached at its western tip or perhaps between the Ziegelhütte and the Flinsberg ( 534.8  m above sea level ), just north of it ; at both points the terrain level is a little over 510  m above sea level. NHN . The stream flows out at about 355  m above sea level. NHN .

Beyond the northwestern watershed, the Maßlesbach flows northeast, beyond the northeastern one the shorter Wimbach flows almost parallel to the east to the upward Rot. Because the latter competes very closely, the left watershed on the section from the confluence of the source streams to the exit into the corridor is significantly closer to the course than the right. From the right Rottall slope in the southeast of the Fronbach estuary triangle, only a nameless, short, often dry slope channel runs a little below to the Rot, which is fed from the Kirschenbrünnele . The area outside the south-west and south drains the long Fornsbach to the upper Murr .

In the catchment area, which belongs entirely to the municipality of Oberrot, only the Ziegelhütte farm and around half of the part of Oberrot itself lying to the right of the Rot, including the old settlement core. About 70% of the area is forest, about half of the rest is made up of the plateaus accompanying the valley on the left and right in the north around the Ziegelhütte and in the south near Glashofen, where only noticeable fields occur. The other half includes the open slopes at the Rottal inlet and the Oberroter locality; There are many orchards here, some of which extend as far as the small settlement core of the village.

NHN in Oberrot at the lower river bridge of the Rottalstrasse (L 1050) from the right and east into the lower Fichtenberger Rot ( 49 ° 0 '52 "  N , 9 ° 40' 0"  E ). The stream is 2.3 km long from the confluence of its two source streams, 3.0 km from its source furthest from the mouth and has a catchment area of 2.2 km² behind it.

geology

In the entire catchment area there are only middle Keuper shifts. The Trinkklinge source just rises in the Stubensandstein ( Löwenstein Formation ), while that of the Quellbach through the Steinlklinge , although only five meters lower, only arises at the transition between Upper Bunten Mergel ( Mainhardt Formation ) and Kieselsandstein ( Hassberge Formation ). Their union takes place in the reed sandstone ( Stuttgart formation ), from which the Fronbach then soon crosses into the Gipskeuper ( Grabfeld formation ), in which it also flows; the reed sandstone stretches in a strip almost to the valley opening to the Rottal, particularly noticeable on the right slope due to the flatter slope at the corresponding height. Soon after the formation of the Fornbach, the valley floor is filled with floodplain sediments, which spread widely in the local area of Oberrot.

The fact that the left source is tectonically significantly higher, despite a height difference of only about 5 meters to the right, is caused by the passage of the Neckar-Jagst furrow on the northern edge of the catchment area, a subsidence zone that extends far east-northeast. Therefore, in a strip from the forest of Fallen on the western tip to over the length of the Flinsberg , on which, for example, the brickworks stands and the road to Wolfenbrück still runs in the south, Stubensandstein was adjusted against silica sandstone on the right side of the valley.

Nature and protected areas

The Fronbach and its valley are located in the Mainhardter Forest part of the Swabian-Franconian Forest Mountains natural area , they belong entirely to the Swabian-Franconian Forest Nature Park established in it. The valleys of the Fronbach soon after its formation and in front of the Oberrot local border are predominantly part of the Fichtenberger Rot-, Murr- and Fornsbachtal protected landscape area with adjacent mountain ranges . On the slope of the spur between the Fronbach and Wimbach valleys, just after the outskirts of Oberrot, there are three oaks protected as natural monuments. The Quellbach through the wooded Trinkklinge is a near-natural biotope, just as predominantly the section from the forest outlet of the Fronbach to the outskirts of Oberrot; there is a wet meadow next to the stream . There are also some ravines and field hedges on the slopes open to the Rottal.
