Jörg Kazmair , also Jörg Katzmair (* around 1350; † March 5, 1417 in Munich ) was a German ratchet writer, politician, active in the Inner Council of Munich from 1386 and mayor of this city several times until his death .

Life

The offspring of the established advisable Katzmair family wrote a report on the city riots between 1397 and 1403 (so-called Four Duke times ). In the great civil unrest of that time, during which he long endeavored to find a balance between the parties to the dispute, the patrician Ulrich Tichtel and his insurgents had to flee in 1398 and, like many other respected Munich patricians, lost a great deal of wealth. In exile, following Duke Ernst's entourage, he fought through the courts to restore his rights in Munich. Kazmair's report ended in 1403 with the siege of the city by the Bavarian dukes Ernst and Wilhelm. In the end there was a settlement for all parties and in 1403 also Kazmair's rehabilitation in his hometown.

In 1878, Kazmairstrasse in Munich's West End was named after him.
