Jörg Winter (journalist)

Jörg Winter (born May 29, 1972 in Vöcklabruck ) is an Austrian television and radio journalist. He is the head of the ORF office in Istanbul .

Career

Winter studied geography and English at the universities of Salzburg , Oxford Brookes and Vienna. After graduating in 1997, he worked for a year and a half as a news editor for an Austrian private TV broadcaster. This was followed by a Fulbright Scholarship , Masters program in Broadcast Journalism at New York University from 1998–1999.

Jörg Winter has been working for Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF) as a foreign policy reporter, correspondent and analyst since January 2000. He has reported from numerous countries in Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East. Winter was a correspondent in the ORF Washington office from 2006 to 2009 . From 2011 to 2014 he headed the correspondent's office in Beijing, responsible for China and the Far East. Since January 2015 he has been the ORF correspondent for Turkey and Iran based in Istanbul .
