Jörn Nowak (born April 25, 1986 ) is a former German soccer player who was under contract with Rot-Weiß Oberhausen until 2016 . His preferred position was central defense. Nowak has been the sports director at Rot-Weiss Essen since 2019 .

Career

Nowak started his career at FSV Hoyerswerda and FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt , where he was part of the professional squad from 2005. With Rot-Weiß Erfurt he qualified for the 3rd division in 2008 , but only made two appearances there in the first half of the 2008/09 season and switched to Chemnitzer FC during the winter break . He stayed there until the summer of 2010, when he joined Sportfreunde Siegen . With the Sportfreunde Siegen, he rose to the Regionalliga West in the 2011/12 season , but left the club and then played for Rot-Weiß Oberhausen . After the 2015/16 season Nowak ended his playing career.

After the career

In 2017 Nowak became the sporting director at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen. In the 2018/2019 season, the team under Nowak's leadership achieved the runner-up in the Regionalliga West. On May 24, 2019, he then moved to Rot-Weiss Essen on Hafenstrasse as the successor to Jürgen Lucas's sports director.
