Július Satinský (born August 20, 1941 in Bratislava ; † December 29, 2002 ibid) was a Slovak author , actor and showmaster on radio and television .

Life

His acting talent was already evident during his school days, in 1958 he won the competition for reciting the poetry "Hviezdoslavov Kubín". Although he received a pedagogical training, he never practiced this profession. At the Drama Faculty he studied dramaturgy from 1962 to 1966 and worked as a dramaturge from 1964 to 1967 on Czechoslovak television in Bratislava. After studying acting at the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in Bratislava, he began a career alongside Milan Lasica in 1959 , with whom he formed a comedic duo on stage and in film. Until the late 1960s they had their performances in the Divadlo na Korze theater , now Astorka Korzo 90 .

After the Prague Spring 1968, the duo was temporarily banned from performing in Slovakia. So they played in Brno, Moravia, for two years . Between 1972 and 1978 Satinský was a member of the music ensemble and between 1978 and 1980 a member of the drama troupe of the Nová scéna and Korzo 90 theaters in Bratislava. When the duo were allowed to perform again in 1982, they moved to the newly established Štúdio S theater , whose director was Lasica.

Satinský was known not only as an actor and comedian, but also as a presenter of radio and television programs and as a lecturer who traveled all over Slovakia to discuss questions of democracy and civil society with his listeners . He also wrote memoirs about his childhood and student years in Bratislava and numerous features . On January 2, 2002, he received the Slovak State Prize, the Pribina Cross, First Class, for his lifelong contribution to Slovak art and his support for democracy. The Slovak Astronomical Society named after him comet 15946 Satinský , which was discovered on January 8, 1998.
