The Baden Jewish edict of 1809 allowed the Jewish communities to build their own schools, provided they covered the costs.

The schoolhouse was built in 1835 on Entengasse. The Jewish elementary schools were dissolved with the introduction of simultaneous schools in the Grand Duchy of Baden in 1876. The Jewish school in Billigheim was continued as a religious school until the 1920s.
