Jewish Elementary School Bühl (Baden)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Jewish elementary school in Bühl , a town in the Rastatt district in Baden-Württemberg , was an elementary school founded in 1827. It was maintained by the Bühl Jewish Community . The Baden Jewish edict of 1809 allowed the Jewish communities to build their own schools, provided they covered the costs.

The schoolhouse with the teacher's apartment was on Johannesplatz next to the synagogue . Both buildings were demolished after the November pogrom in 1938 . The Jewish elementary schools were dissolved with the introduction of simultaneous schools in the Grand Duchy of Baden in 1876. The Jewish school in Bühl was continued as a religious school.
