Jewish community Neuburg an der Kammel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Jewish community of Neuburg an der Kammel was a Jewish community in the Swabian town of Neuburg an der Kammel in what is now the district of Günzburg in Bavaria , which existed from 1431 to 1675 .

The Neuburg Jews had their houses mainly in Judengasse , today's Bergstrasse . The synagogue was, according to tradition in the area of today's land mountain road 1 and 3 , that is at the eastern end of the road where it in the marketplace goes. The Jewish cemetery, of which nothing is preserved today, is documented from 1565. It was located on the ridge to the west of the village, still known today as the Judenberg - south of the road to Wattenweiler, which is the extension of the Bergstrasse .

When the Jews were expelled from Neuburg, some of them settled in the closest Jewish communities of Ichenhausen and Hürben .
