The Jewish cemetery in Brilon is a burial site that was mainly laid out for members of the Brilon Jewish community .

The cemetery is located on Döselberg west of the St. Engelbert School. It was occupied from 1829 to 1941. 23 tombstones can still be seen. In addition to the name and date of death, the Star of David and Hebrew characters are carved on several stones . In addition to members of the Brilon Jewish community, Jews from Assinghausen , Bigge and Olsberg were also buried here.

Documentation

The Westphalian Office for Monument Preservation documented this cemetery with photos from 1975 to 2000. Ursula Hesse, under the direction of Michael Brocke, created a full documentation with a textual and pictorial recording of all inscriptions and tombstones from the working group Jewish cemeteries at the comprehensive university Duisburg . This is located in the Salomon Ludwig Steinheim Institute .
