The listed Jewish cemetery in Golčův Jeníkov (German Goltsch-Jenikau) in the Czech Republic is located about 600 meters west of the municipality and is one of the oldest Jewish cemeteries in Bohemia .

history

According to some sources, the cemetery was founded in the first half of the 14th century and was later expanded several times; more likely, however, is a foundation in the 17th / 18th centuries. Century. It occupies the area of ​​7336 m², only about two thirds of which is filled with tombstones; there are around 1500 tombstones , including three graves of rabbis (Jakob Jitzhakovi ha Lewi, two belonged to the Kornfeld family). The oldest tombstone found is from 1706. The last burials took place in the 1930s.

The cemetery has been recognized as a cultural monument since 1958.
