Holocaust memorial on the site of the former Jewish cemetery in Ostrava

The Jewish cemetery in Ostrava (German Mährisch-Ostrau ), a Czech town in Okres Ostrava-město in the Moravian-Silesian region , was laid out in the 1870s. Before that, the dead of the Ostrava Jewish community were buried in the Jewish cemetery in Teschen .

The Jewish cemetery was leveled around 1980 and is now designed as a public park.

In the 1960s a new Jewish cemetery was created, on which some gravestones from the old Jewish cemetery were also placed.
