Jewish cemetery in Worms-Pfeddersheim

The Jewish Cemetery Worms-Pfeddersheim is a Jewish cemetery in the Worms district of Worms-Pfeddersheim with 65 gravestones ( Mazewot ) preserved from 1834 to 1937. It is located above the communal cemetery on Leiselheimer Straße and is a protected cultural monument .

Although Jewish residents in Pfeddersheim can be traced permanently from 1648 onwards, the Jewish cemetery in Pfeddersheim was not established until 1832; previously the cemetery in Dalsheim was used while the Jews belonged to the community in Worms. Pfeddersheim Jews bought a field of 874 m² northeast of the small town to build the cemetery. After the foundation of their own Pfeddersheim community and the construction of a synagogue in 1834, the Leiselheim and Pfiffligheim Jews also became community members in Pfeddersheim and were therefore also allowed to use the cemetery. In the same year, the Horchheim community bought burial rights to the Pfeddersheim cemetery.

During the Nazi era , the cemetery was devastated. During a desecration of the cemetery on April 6, 1991, 40 gravestones were knocked over and some were smashed. In 1992 and 2005 there were again attacks on the cemetery.
