The Levern Jewish Cemetery is located in the Levern district of the Stemwede municipality in the Minden-Lübbecke district in North Rhine-Westphalia . As a Jewish cemetery , it is a monument that is entered in the list of monuments under monument number 063 .

The cemetery is located in a northerly direction about two kilometers outside the center of Levern, not far from the L 767 on Landesstraße 770, near the Jobusch restaurant, already on the outskirts of the community of Niedermehnen . 36 tombstones have been preserved there.

history

The cemetery was occupied from 1862 to 1936. Between 1800 and 1850 the Levern Jews buried their dead in the old Jewish cemetery in Lübbecke and between 1850 and 1862 in Preussisch Oldendorf . In 1939 a private person bought the property and had 20 older tombstones removed, and the area was reforested. In 1954 the cemetery was restored.
