Jewish cemetery (Montabaur)
The Montabaur Jewish Cemetery is a cemetery in the Montabaur district of the Montabaur Association in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate .
The Jewish cemetery is located south of the old town and south of the Quendelberg leisure complex on Albertstrasse. It was listed as a historical monument in 1991 .
In the 2703 m² cemetery, which was probably laid out at the end of the 18th century and occupied until 1939, there are 86 gravestones . There may also have been individual burials in the course of 1939 and thereafter. The oldest still legible grave inscription is from 1796. In 1943, 1953 and 1983 the cemetery was desecrated . Gravestones were probably destroyed in the process.
