Jewish cemetery (Westerburg)
The Jewish cemetery Westerburg is a cemetery in the town of Westerburg in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . It has been a listed building since 1991 .
The Jewish cemetery is to the east of the village near the Schweizerhof on the main road to Winnen (= L 300).
In the 2667 m² cemetery, which was probably occupied from the 19th century to around 1922/23, there are 62 gravestones , the oldest from 1864, the last legible gravestone from 1919.
Old graveyard
An old cemetery, which was occupied from the 17th century to 1888 and was about 340 m², is located in the forest on the way to Katzenstein. It also served the Jews living in Gemünden (Westerwald) and Rennerod to bury their dead. There are no more tombstones in this cemetery.
City cemetery
In this Jewish cemetery, which was next to the Christian cemetery on Friedhofstraße, around 10 burials took place from around 1900 to the beginning of the 20th century. It was completely destroyed in 1938/39. There are no more tombstones. A memorial stone was erected in 1949 .
