The Jewish Cemetery Baden is located on the neck tie road south of the city parish cemetery Baden in the borough bathing in the district of Baden in Lower Austria . The Jewish cemetery is a listed building .

history

The Jewish cemetery, built in 1873, was expanded several times in a row. Jews from the judicial districts of Baden and Pottenstein , the town of Gumpoldskirchen and people of Jewish faith who died during their stay at the spa in Baden or Bad Vöslau and also in the pulmonary hospital in Alland were buried. In 1904/1906 a ceremony hall was built according to the plans of the architect Wilhelm Stiassny . The Art Nouveau building was blown up by citizens of Baden in the course of the November pogroms 1938 on the night of November 9-10.

The cemetery was expanded several times to a size of 12,500 m². A side wing of the ceremonial hall, in which the cemetery keeper's apartment was also located, is still preserved today.
