Jürg Dick (born May 2, 1963 in Solothurn ) is a former Swiss curling player . His greatest success was winning the demonstration competition at the XVI. 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville .

Athletic career

In the junior division, Jürg Dick was the three-time Swiss champion (1980, 1981 and 1982) and during these years he took part in the curling junior world championships as second in the Swiss team.

Dick played as the third of the Swiss team in the XVI. 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville in curling. His brother Urs Dick was the skip at the games. The team won the Olympic gold medal after a 7-6 win in the final against Norway under Skip Tormod Andreassen . Since curling was still a demonstration sport at that time, the medal has no official status. In December of the same year, Jürg Dick and his brother competed at the European Curling Championships in Perth , where the Swiss team (together with Scotland) won the bronze medal.

In senior sports (category Senior 1), Dick was able to achieve three more championship titles with his team.

He had to end his active career after a back operation. From 2012 to the end of 2015 he was President of the CC Wengi-Solothurn. In 2014 he was made an honorary member of the club.

His greatest achievement was winning the Albertville Games. At the European Curling Championships in 1992 , his team won the bronze medal.

Private life

Dick is currently working as a heating draftsman at Saudan AG in Solothurn.

He has a son.
