The World Curling Federation (WCF) represents the international curling sport and promotes the growth of the sport. It is the umbrella organization of the national sports associations. The WCF organizes international championships and regulates the world rankings for the national teams, in addition to international regulations. Curling is currently one of the fastest growing sports, the WCF currently has 45 member associations.

history
The WCF was founded on April 1st, 1966 as the International Curling Federation (ICF) by the following associations:
The ICF was originally founded as a committee of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club in Perth , following the success of the Scotch Cup between Canada and Scotland . In the beginning, teams from the associations of Scotland, Canada, Sweden , Norway , Switzerland and the United States took part. In the course of its creation, the ICF organized the World Curling Championships . In addition to the World Championships, the WCF currently organizes the World Junior Curling Championships and the World Curling Championships (senior division).
Since the foundation, the number of member associations has grown to 39. The German Curling Association (DCV) joined the ICF in 1967, the Austrian Curling Association (ÖCV) in 1982. In 1991 the ICF was renamed the World Curling Federation . The WCF is based at the Scottish Royal Caledonian Curling Club in Perth . In April 2006, the Canadian Les Harrison was elected President of the WCF, two years later he was confirmed in office and thus re-elected for a further two-year term. Kate Caithness from Scotland was elected WCF's first female president in 2010.

In addition to the official rules of curling, there is also the so-called Spirit of Curling . It is a kind of common law. That a curler obeys this should go without saying.
- A curler always behaves like a gentleman.
- A curler plays to win, but never to humiliate his opponent.
- A curler will never try to distract his opponent or prevent him from doing his best.
- A curler never tries to gain advantages by any means other than playful opportunities.
- A curler must first learn to lose, only then is he worthy of winning.
- A curler prefers defeat to unjust victory.
- A curler never intentionally violates the rules of the game or any of the written traditions.
- A curler will never do anything that he does not expect from his teammates.
- In the event of a dispute, a curler always decides in favor of his opponent.
- A curler neither criticizes nor insults his teammates or his opponents.
- A curler appreciates and recognizes a good performance of the opponent.
- A curler always focuses on the game and does his best.
- If a curler makes a mistake, he is the first to admit it.
- A curler who touches or slides a running stone announces this immediately.
- If you win, invite your direct opponent for a drink.
- A curler will never take advantage of an invitation to get expensive drinks paid for. A curler always behaves fairly and athletically.
