Juerg Glauser

Jürg Glauser (* 1951 in Zurich ) is a Swiss Scandinavian .

Life

From 1958 to 1971 Glauser attended the schools in Küsnacht , Zurich and Reykjavík ( Matura ). From 1971 to 1979 he studied Nordic studies, German and European folk literature at the Universities of Zurich , Uppsala , Oslo and Copenhagen . From 1976 to 1989 he was a part-time teacher at the Zurich School of Interpreters and Translators. In 1981 he received his doctorate in Nordic philology under Oskar Bandle at the University of Zurich . After that he was assistant for Nordic philology at the German Department of the University of Zurich until 1986. From 1986 to 1989 he was an employee of the Swiss National Science Foundation . From 1989 to 1991 he was senior assistant at the German Department at the University of Zurich. In 1991 Glauser received his habilitation for Nordic Philology at the University of Zurich .

From 1992 to 1994 he taught C3 Professor for Nordic Philology at the University of Tübingen . From 1994 until his retirement in 2017 he was a full professor of Nordic philology at the Universities of Basel and Zurich (coordination chair). From 2008 to 2010 Glauser was Dean of the Philosophical-Historical Faculty of the University of Basel.
