Jürg Halter (born June 23, 1980 in Bern ) is a Swiss poet , musician and performance poet. Until the beginning of 2015, Halter was also active as a rapper under the pseudonym Kutti MC .
biography
Halter studied at the Bern University of the Arts and made a name for himself through readings and poetry festivals ( e.g. Poetry Africa in Durban , International Literature Festival in Berlin , 14th American National Poetry Slam in Chicago and Leipzig Book Fair ). He wrote articles in various art magazines and anthologies. His debut work, the volume of poetry I touched the world, published in February 2005 , received the 2005 Book Prize of the Canton of Bern .
Since 2005, Halter has made numerous appearances at international literary festivals in Europe, Russia, the USA, Japan and Africa. Own theater performance series and a. in Theater Neumarkt in Zurich ("We build the world as we like it", 2010/2011) and in the Casinotheater in Winterthur and in the Südpol Lucerne ("The most incredible talk show in the world" 2009/2010/2013).
Together with the Japanese poet Shuntaro Tanikawa , he wrote two chain poems. The two worked on the first poem, entitled Talking Water , for four years, and they wrote the second community text within five days. A title and the date of publication have not yet been determined.
He is co-founder and head of the literary and art construct art.21 and works as a cultural director, for example for the 1st Swiss Children's and Young People's Literature Festival .
With the Kutti MC project , Halter created a fictional character in the rap scene. On the album, which was released in 2005, he is supported on several pieces by well-known rappers and producers, for example Big Zis , the Bernese hip-hop combo Wurzel 5 or Sad . The CD is controversial among critics and spokesmen of the hip-hop scene. Since 2005 four more albums have been released as Kutti MC. On which he u. a. has worked with artists such as Stephan Eicher , Sophie Hunger , Baschi , Endo Anaconda ( Stiller Has ), Kuno Lauener ( Züri West ) and Marc Smith .
