Wurzel 5 ( Bern German : Wurzu füüf ) is a Swiss hip-hop group from the Obstberg district of Bern . Root 5 forms together with PVP , Baze and DJ Skoob the Chlyklass clan.

history

The band was founded in 1997 by friends and former schoolmates from the Obstberg district in Bern and consists of three rappers: Tiersch, the brothers Diens and Serej, the producer DJ Link and the manager Balduin “Bloodyfinga” Minder.

They soon made a name for themselves with their energetic stage shows far beyond the canton's borders. Her first single Schii $ tracks was released in early 2000 , and Jugendsündä followed the following year , one of the first Bern-German rap albums of modern times.

In 2003 the successor Verdächtig ... , one of the most successful Swiss rap albums to date, was released. Three years later they released their album Teamgeist , which reached number 5 in the Swiss charts.

Her fourth album Letschti Rundi was released on June 12, 2009 . The group previously announced that this will be their final release.

Frequent companions of the group, both in the studio and on stage, include Janòs Heidekker with the violin , Roger Massimo as guitarist and Tevfik Kuyas on the electric bass .

On August 12, 2011, a best-of album was released with remixes of well-known songs as well as a DVD with music videos, live recordings and background material. A live album was offered for free download.

On May 20, 2018, Wurzel 5 gave a concert after more than seven years without a performance on the occasion of the first championship celebration for the BSC Young Boys in 32 years . Since February 2018, the song Hie (Bern German "Here") has also been used as the opening song for YB's home games.
