Jürg Maurer (* 1935 ) is a jazz - clarinet player from the Swiss canton of Zurich , the Dixieland and Swing in The Saints Jazz Band played.

Even as a teenager, Maurer was less influenced by Dixieland Jazz , which was also popular in Switzerland at the time , than by Woody Herman's music , which he heard on AFN . He had his first engagements in a folk wind group, called Harmoniemusik in Switzerland , but remained loyal to jazz, which ultimately led to his dismissal. From then on he performed mostly in the Niederdorf of the city of Zurich  - in the Eulerbar, in the Hirschen and in the Trester Club. He also played in the Swiss Swing College Band .

After one of the founders, the saxophonist and clarinetist Rene Borel, left The Saints Jazz Band , which the pianist Romeo Borbach took over in 1962, Maurer became a permanent member of the group in 1963. He played in this band until his age-related retirement in 2014. He was also a member of the Paramount Union Jazz Band for a time.
