Jürgen Buchheister (politician)

Jürgen Buchheister (born October 15, 1949 in Braunschweig - Rüningen ; † February 23, 2020 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

After completing secondary school, Jürgen Buchheister was a police officer from 1966 until he was elected to the Lower Saxony state parliament in 1994. However, from 1985 he was released as chairman of the staff council. He was a member of the police union .

Buchheister first moved up on March 29, 1994 for the SPD, to which he had been a member since 1970, in the twelfth electoral term of the Lower Saxony state parliament. He then moved into the state parliament through a direct mandate in constituency 3 Braunschweig-Südwest . In the state parliament he took over the deputy chairmanship of the committee for public service law. In the state elections on February 2, 2003, he lost the direct mandate of his constituency to Carsten Höttcher from the CDU.

He was district mayor in the Braunschweig district of Rüningen (1991 to 2017), chairman of the local SPD club in Rüningen and chairman of the leisure and senior citizens' group in Rüningen . He was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon.

Jürgen Buchheister died in February 2020 after a long illness at the age of 70.
