Jürgen C. Hess

Jürgen C. Heß (born September 23, 1943 in Allenstein , East Prussia ) is a German historian .

Hess studied history, English and geography in Kiel and Tübingen . In 1970 he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD. Since 1982 he has taught as a full professor of modern history at the Vrijen Universiteit Amsterdam . His main focus is the history of liberalism in the interwar period, in particular the person of Theodor Heuss . In 1976, Heß received the Wolf-Erich-Kellner Prize for his study of the DDP , which was published as a book in 1978.
