Jürgen Dusel (born February 14, 1965 in Würzburg ) is a German lawyer and has been the Federal Government Commissioner for the Issues of People with Disabilities since 2018 .

Life

Dusel passed the Abitur examination in 1985 and studied law . In 1992 he passed the first state examination in law at the University of Heidelberg , and in 1995 the second state examination in the Stuttgart Higher Regional Court . From 1996 he worked at the main welfare office of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . In 1998 he moved to the Brandenburg State Office for Social Affairs and Supply. There he was head of the home supervision / supra-local care authority in 1998 , head of the integration office in 2002, deputy head of department 3 (supervision, social and forensic psychiatry, integration office) in 2007 and head of the supervision and accommodation department under the Brandenburg Mental Illness Act in 2009 .

Dusel is severely visually impaired from birth with a degree of disability of 100. From May 2010 to May 2018 he was the state government representative for the interests of people with disabilities in Brandenburg. Since May 2018 he has succeeded Verena Bentele as the Federal Government's Commissioner for the Disabled. The motto of his term of office is “Democracy needs inclusion”. Among other things, he is interested in accessibility in all areas of society, extensive political participation opportunities and good work for people with disabilities.

Dusel is married and has two children.
