Jürgen Gallmann

Jürgen F. Gallmann (born May 21, 1962 ) is a German business economist and manager .

Life

Gallmann studied business administration at the Lörrach University of Cooperative Education . His first employer was the company Ciba-Geigy from the 1980s . From there he switched to the Ernst & Young subsidiary "Ernst & Young Case Services". After the company changed its name to KnowledgeWare Inc., Gallmann moved to EASEL GmbH, a company that dealt with Vmark software (object-oriented programming based on Smalltalk). In 1997 he moved to IBM Germany . There he was Vice President Data Management in the European Headquarters in Paris, responsible for EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and most recently served as Vice President and Head of the IBM Software Group Central Region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland).

From November 2002 to December 31, 2006, Gallmann was CEO of Microsoft Deutschland GmbH in Unterschleissheim . Due to differing views on the future direction of Microsoft Deutschland GmbH, he gave up the post in October 2006 and left the company at the end of 2006.

From March 2, 2007 to November 30, 2009, Gallmann was chairman of the managing directors of Avaya GmbH & Co. KG, as well as Avaya Deutschland GmbH, the German subsidiaries of the US telecommunications group Avaya . Here, too, he gave up the post of management due to differing views on the future direction of the company.

Between December 1, 2009 and May 23, 2011, he was CEO and partner at the cloud computing provider visionapp AG. Visionapp AG is a spin-off from Dresdner Bank and has been dealing with the topics of virtualization, centralized application provision and software as a service (SaaS) since 2001. In May 2011, the company became a member of the Allen Systems Groups (ASG). In the course of the takeover, Gallmann left the board.

In autumn 2011, Gallmann founded Cumulus Ventures GmbH, which provides venture capital for start-ups in the Internet and software environment and also offers growth management and M&A consulting. At the same time, he is a lecturer at the LMU at the chair for business administration, business informatics and new media. He sits on the advisory board of UnternehmerTUM, the incubator of the Technical University of Munich.

Jürgen Gallmann has been an investor and advisory board member at the Munich fitness start-up eGym GmbH since mid-2012. eGym develops fully electronic strength equipment and operates an internet platform of the same name for athletes.

Jürgen Gallmann is married and has two children.

Special

Gallmann is co-founder of the “WissensWert” educational program and initiator of the start-up initiative “Unternehmer was.” Gallmann was also a member of Microsoft's “Senior Leadership Team of the Sales, Marketing and Services Group (SMSG)”.

In addition to his professional activities, Gallmann was a member of the executive committee of the " Federal Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media (BITKOM)", a member of the board of the "Münchner Kreis" and, since July 1, 2004, a personal member of the "Bavarian State Board of Trustees of the Donors' Association for German Science" .
