He wrote under the pseudonyms Albert C. Bowles , Bert Floorman , JA Garett , JA Gorman , Jay Grams , Jürgen Grasse , JA Grouft , Jeff Hammon , Ron Kelly , Rolf Murat , Steve D. Rock , Dan Shocker , Owen L. Todd and Henri Vadim .
life and work
Grasmück made his debut in 1956 with the short story Atomic War on Mars in Andromeda Magazine (No. 69) by Walter Ernsting . In 1957 his first novel Die Macht im Kosmos was published by Bewin. A number of loan books followed until the decline in the loan book business and the rise of novel booklets forced him to reorient himself. He wrote dime novel in the magic circle publishing and in the series Ad Astra and Rex Corda . He has also written Gerry Thook crime novels and a western for Rolf Mauerhardt Verlag.
Already in his first books he combined science fiction with horror elements. The Frankenstein theme was particularly striking in the two-part loan book testament of horror and fear goes around at Bewin 1962. In his best-known series Larry Brent and Macabros , which he wrote under the pseudonym Dan Shocker , he also accommodated numerous SF elements, with for macabros he also increasingly introduced fantasy elements into the series cosmos. Under the same pseudonym he also wrote the Burg Frankenstein tension novels for Zauberkreis Verlag and for the first few years wrote their silver horror crime series alone.
In the mid-1980s, some radio plays by his novel heroes Larry Brent and Macabros appeared, and in 2005 episodes of the Frankenstein volumes were added. In 1984/85 the Zauberkreis-Verlag, in which Larry Brent and Macabros appeared, was taken over by Pabel-Moewig. There was an internal restructuring of the publishing house and both series were discontinued. In 1994 Larry Brent was briefly continued by the newly founded Zaubermond Verlag. Blitz-Verlag later took over the series. Both Larry Brent and Macabros are currently being reissued by Blitz-Verlag , with two of the earlier booklet novels being re-published in a paperback in a revised version. The Larry Brent series is being continued there with new novels written by third-party authors (including Manfred Weinland, Alfred Wallon, Martin Eisele , Dario Vandis). Macabros has also been continued at Zaubermond Verlag since 2007 .
From the mid-1980s, Grasmück and his wife started their own bookseller. Grasmück later founded a publishing house.
Jürgen Grasmück died on August 7, 2007 at the age of 67 from the effects of progressive muscle weakness, which made him dependent on a wheelchair from the age of 15.
