Jürgen Heimbach

Jürgen Heimbach (* 1961 in Koblenz ) is a German writer .

Career

Jürgen Heimbach attended the Johannes-Gymnasium in Niederlahnstein until 1978 , which he left before graduating from high school to do an apprenticeship as a wholesale and foreign trade clerk in Koblenz. From 1981 to 1984 he attained university entrance qualification via the second educational path at Koblenz Kolleg. During this time Heimbach began to occupy himself intensively with film and photography. He has been studying German and philosophy in Mainz since 1985, where he founded the agA theater group with fellow students and organized theater festivals at the university, before co-founding the darK.-Halle theater in downtown Mainz in 1992 , where he staged several productions and organized festivals. From 1997 to 2009 he formed the artist group VIER with Peter Heinz, Stephan Truschel and at times Charlotte Löbner , which showed space-related installations, films, photographs, graphics and text works.

Heimbach has been working as an editor for television since 1996. After earlier attempts at writing, he resumed this activity in 2007. In 2008 he published the youth novel Johannes' Nacht , the following year the detective novel Sudden Death of a Hooker . In 2011 his detective novel Chagall's Rache was published , in 2012 his crime thriller Unter Trümmern , which takes place in the post-war period. Under rubble was nominated for the crime thriller in the category "National Crime". In 2014, the crime novel Alte Feinde followed , which was also nominated for the Krimi-Blitz. In 2016, Offene Wunden was published , the final volume of his post-war trilogy about Commissioner Paul Koch, who had returned to Germany from exile. In 2019 he published the novel Die Rote Hand , which was awarded the Friedrich Glauser Prize 2020 for the best detective novel . Heimbach's short crime stories have been published in various anthologies .

Heimbach is in the group of German-language crime fiction authors " Syndikat " and a member of the crime authors' association "Mörderisches Rheinhessen". Has been a member of the jury of the Rhineland-Palatinate Youth Book Prize since 2008. Jürgen Heimbach has been a member of the preliminary jury of the German TV Crime Festival since 2016 .
