Jürgen Kofner

Jürgen E. Kofner (* around 1949 ; † April 25, 2008 in Erkrath ) was a German basketball official .

Life

In the 1980s, Kofner was press spokesman for the then German women's series champion Agon Düsseldorf and from the beginning of the 1990s first hall spokesman , then manager of Barmer TV Wuppertal , which became German champions eight times in a row. From 2003 to June 2007 he held the position of managing director of the operating company of the women's basketball league (DBBL) together with Birgit Kunel .

For the German Basketball Association (DBB), Kofner, who owned an advertising company in Düsseldorf  , accompanied the female U20 national team on international matches as head of delegation. He died of cancer on April 25, 2008 at the age of 59. In the obituary of the German Basketball Federation, Kofner was referred to as “the tireless driver of women's basketball in Germany for decades”.
