Jürgen "Junior" Mössmer (born June 11, 1989 in Reutlingen ) is a former German soccer player . For VfR Aalen and 1. FC Nürnberg he was used in a total of 40 games in the 2. Bundesliga .

Career

Mössmer is the son of a German and a Brazilian and was born in Reutlingen, Baden-Württemberg . In his youth he played for SSV Reutlingen from 1994 to 2007 . In 2007 he moved to the second team of Eintracht Frankfurt , which played in the major league. In 2008 he qualified with her for the new fourth-class Regionalliga Süd .

For the 2010/11 season he signed the third division promoted VfR Aalen . Mössmer made his professional debut on the first day of the new third division season on July 24, 2010 in the 3-0 away defeat against second division relegated Hansa Rostock , when he came on for Ralf Kettemann in the 76th minute . He was then used regularly in the first half of the season until an adductor injury put him out of action for the rest of the season. It was only used again on the last day of the match. In the following season 2011/12 Mössmer became a regular player in central defense at VfR together with newcomer Tim Kister . He completed 36 of the 38 season games; at the end of the season, the team rose to second in the table in the 2nd Bundesliga .

The following second division season 2012/13 played the team largely without Mössmer, who failed the entire preliminary round due to injury and only came to three shorter missions in the second half. He was substituted on twice in stoppage time. In his only appearance from the start against FSV Frankfurt , he received the red card after 25 minutes for foul play . During the rest of the second half of the season he was unable to prevail against Kister and Oliver Barth and Benjamin Hübner, who were newly signed up in the summer . In the following 2013/14 season he was mostly used as a defensive midfielder, but only played 13 second division games due to injury. He was on the starting grid eight times. His expiring contract was extended for two more years in summer 2014. In the first two games of the new 2014/15 season Mössmer was on the Aalen starting line-up.

After four years, he left the Aalen team in August 2014 and switched to league rivals 1. FC Nürnberg , who used a contractually agreed release clause. There he immediately became a regular player and a short time later he was interim captain of the team for five games. Again due to an injury, he was only used five times after the winter break in spring 2015, most recently in May 2015. He only made his comeback for the Franks in March 2016 when he was substituted on in the final phase of the game against RB Leipzig . He then sat on the bench for another four games without being used before he was out again for the rest of the season.

After his contract with Nuremberg had expired, Jürgen Mössmer ended his career as a professional footballer in the summer of 2016.

In December 2016 he joined the regional league team Young Boys Reutlingen in his hometown of Reutlingen , where he was also an assistant coach as a player -coach.
