Jürgen Offenbach

Jürgen Offenbach (born December 12, 1942 in Stuttgart ) is a German journalist and the former editor-in-chief of the Stuttgarter Nachrichten .

Life

Jürgen Offenbach began his journalistic activities at the age of 13 as editor of the school newspaper of the Johannes-Kepler-Gymnasium in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt . He became its editor-in-chief and also wrote articles for the Stuttgarter Nachrichten . After graduating from high school, he did a traineeship with the Stuttgarter Nachrichten. After a brief activity as an author in the television and radio sector, Offenbach took over the popular Knitz column for the Stuttgarter Nachrichten at the age of 23 . In 1968 he became head of the arts section. In 1970 Offenbach founded the podium discussion, Treffpunkt Foyer , which takes place two to three times a year to this day and has top-class guests, including Federal President and Chancellor, as well as Formula 1 world champions such as Michael Schumacher and Mika Häkkinen. In 1971 he received the Theodor Wolff Prize and was appointed head of the political department.

In July 1979, at the age of 36, he took over the position of editor-in-chief of the Stuttgarter Nachrichten from Rudolph Bernhard , which he then held for 28 years. Offenbach retired in 2007. However, he still occasionally writes as a freelance journalist for the Stuttgarter Nachrichten. In addition, he works as a media consultant for well-known companies and entrepreneurs. He also continues to act as a moderator of podium events with prominent interlocutors from business and politics.

In 2003 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for several humanitarian projects initiated by Offenbach . In 2008 he was awarded the Baden-Württemberg Medal of Merit .

His wife Susanne Offenbach is also a journalist. She makes u. a. TV films and wrote a column in the Sunday newspaper Sonntag Aktuell for 30 years .
