Jürgen Salzwedel

Jürgen Salzwedel (born January 26, 1929 in Frankfurt an der Oder ; † May 7, 2020 in Travemünde ) was a German legal scholar .

Life

He studied law at the HU Berlin and in Cologne (1952 first state examination in law ). After the second state examination in Düsseldorf in 1957, his doctorate on February 28, 1957 at the University of Cologne and his habilitation there in 1961, he became associate professor in Bonn in 1961 and full professor there in 1963 and at the same time director of the Institute for the Law of Water Management . In 1964 he was visiting professor at the University of New Orleans . In 1994 he retired . Salzwedel was one of the early creators of German environmental law and was chairman of the council of environmental experts at the federal government from 1981 to 1984. From 1979 to 1995 he was Vice President of the German Academic Exchange Service ( DAAD ). He was also president of the Bonner Ruder-Verein 1882 eV from 1966 to 1993
