Jürgen Schanze

Jürgen Schanze (born February 7, 1956 ) is a former German soccer player. In 1978 he played a game for BSG Stahl Riesa in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football .

Athletic career

In the 1973/74 season Jürgen Schanze appeared for the first time in the second-rate GDR league when he was used in a point game for the 2nd team of the company sports community (BSG) Stahl Riesa. This was relegated at the end of the season and played in the Dresden district league in 1974/75 , but rose immediately back to the GDR league with the help of Schanze. In 1975/76 he was used neither in the 1st nor in the 2nd team, the 2nd team played in 1976/77 in the junior league . The first team was relegated to the GDR league in 1977, but rose again immediately. Schanze was involved in this ascent with a point game, mainly due to the Oberliga descent with Riesa II he played again in the district league. After BSG Stahl played in the league again from 1978/79, Schanze, which actually belonged to the squad of the junior league, came to his only first division assignment. On the 7th league match day he was substituted on for the injured midfielder Volkmar Raabe in the match between 1. FC Magdeburg - Stahl Riesa (5-0) in the 30th minute .

For the 1979/80 season Schanze switched to the GDR league club BSG activist Schwarze Pump . There he managed to gain a foothold at least in the second class. With the BSG activist he played four GDR league seasons until 1983 and came to 65 games in 88 played point games, in which he scored nine goals. After the 1982/83 season, Jürgen Schanze retired from higher-class football at the age of 27. He joined TSG Elsterwerda , with whom he was district champion in 1983, but failed in the promotion round to the GDR league.
