Jürgen Warmbrunn

Jürgen Warmbrunn (* 1962 in Münster , Westphalia) is a German historian with a focus on Eastern Central Europe .

Education and professional career

Jürgen Warmbrunn studied Slavic Studies , Eastern European History, English and Finnish Language and Literature in Münster , Prague and Helsinki . He received his doctorate in Münster in 1992. From 1993 to 1995 he completed training for the higher service at academic libraries in the state of Baden-Württemberg in Konstanz and Cologne . From 1995 to 1999 he was head of acquisitions and subject librarian for linguistics and literature, art and music at the university library of the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt an der Oder. Since 1999 he has been head of the research library of the Herder Institute in Marburg, where he has been deputy director and board member since 2005.

Warmbrunn's areas of work include library history, especially Eastern Central Europe, the Czech literary and intellectual history of the 19th and 20th centuries, Russian academic and cultural life between the two world wars in Germany and Czechoslovakia, and the life and work of Robert William Seton-Watson .
