Jürgen Werlitz

Jürgen Werlitz (born February 9, 1961 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German theologian and university professor .

Life

Werlitz graduated from high school near St. Anna in Augsburg . From 1982 onwards he studied theology at the University of Augsburg . He completed his studies in 1987 with a diploma and obtained his doctorate in 1991 with studies on literary-critical method. Judgment and salvation in Isa 7: 1-17 and Isa 29: 1-8 . Until 1998 he worked as a research assistant / assistant at the chair for Old Testament science at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Augsburg. In 1998 he completed his habilitation with editing and composition. To inquire about the final form of Isa 40-55 and was a senior research assistant for another four years before he was hired at the University of Regensburg as a research assistant for the introduction to the Old Testament at the Chair of Biblical Theology and Hermeneutics, Old Testament .

He is now back at the University of Augsburg as an adjunct professor of Old Testament exegesis. He is also active as a book author and lecturer and, as the successor to the Old Testament writer Otto Wahl, teaches as a visiting professor at the Philosophical-Theological College of the Salesians Don Bosco in Benediktbeuern .

His work focuses on the prophets of the Hebrew Bible and the apocrypha of the Bible .
