Jürgen Wittmann (born August 14, 1966 in Neustadt an der Donau ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper . He played in the Bundesliga for Fortuna Düsseldorf and SpVgg Unterhaching . He currently works in the coaching staff of TSV 1860 Munich .
career
In his youth he played at his home club TSV Neustadt / Donau and in 1982 he joined the youth team of 1. FC Nürnberg . As an 18-year-old, he moved from there in 1984 to what was then the Bayern division, MTV Ingolstadt, and went through relegation and promotion.
In 1989 he accepted an offer from Fortuna Düsseldorf, where he made his professional debut in the Bundesliga in the 1989/90 season. He did not get beyond the role of substitute goalkeeper at Fortuna. After three years in which Wittmann came on 10 Bundesliga appearances, the Fortunes finally relegated from the bottom of the table from the Bundesliga and he left the club.
After that, his next positions were at FC Augsburg and again at MTV Ingolstadt. In 1994 he finally came to the regional league team SpVgg Unterhaching, where he became a regular goalkeeper. In the first year he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga with the club . For the 1999/00 season he rose to the first Bundesliga with Unterhaching and was the goalkeeper there until an injury on matchday 27. Then he was ousted by Gerhard Tremmel . In the following season he played only two more Bundesliga games.
After the descent of Unterhachinger, for which he completed 172 league games in seven years, he played two seasons for the second team of TSV 1860 Munich in the Bayern League from 2001 onwards . Since 2003 he has been working as a goalkeeping coach at 1860. Until 2007 he coached the goalkeepers of the U23, since then he has been a member of the coaching staff of the first team. On November 12, 2007 he was on the bench as a substitute goalkeeper in the second division game against Borussia Mönchengladbach due to personal problems, but was not used.
In the summer of 2013 Wittmann became "transition coordinator" at TSV 1860, he is now responsible for the individualized promotion of the talents of the Munich Lions .
