John Bradley Holmes (born April 26, 1982 in Campbellsville , Kentucky ) is an American professional golfer of the PGA TOUR . He prefers to be addressed not with his first name, but only with his initials as "JB".

After a very successful amateur career, at the end of which he was part of the winning US team at the Walker Cup in 2005 , Holmes became a professional golfer in late summer of that year . He won the PGA Tour qualification tournament ( Q-School ) in the fall and was therefore eligible to play in the major North American tournament series. When he first started, he managed a tenth place at the Sony Open in Hawaii and in February 2006 - it was the fifth start - Holmes won the FBR Open . He hit the $ 1 million mark in prize money faster than any other PGA Tour golfer before him.

On September 1, 2011, Holmes had to undergo brain surgery and a Chiari malformation was found. An allergic reaction to an implanted titanium plate necessitated another surgical procedure a month later. In January 2012, however, he was able to return to the PGA Tour.
