John Roy Hunt (born July 7, 1884 in Caperton , West Virginia , † October 1972 in Sheffield , Alabama ) was an American cameraman .

Live and act

Hunt received his photography and camera engineering training before the First World War and began working as head cameraman for cinema in the middle of the war. In less than four decades of activity he shot around 200 films, most of which have long been forgotten and meaningless.

In addition, Hunt also oversaw one or the other film that demonstrated the beginnings of his skills as a black and white photographer, including the early Gary Cooper Western The Man from Virginia , the first Marx Brothers film grotesque The Cocoanuts , the romance Flying Down to Rio with Dolores del Río and the young Fred Astaire , who is about to break through to stardom , the fantasy story She - ruler of a sunken world , the ancient volcanic eruption drama The Fall of Pompeii , the horror story I followed a zombie , the King-Kong - Continuation of panic about King Kong and the atmospheric film noir Im Kreuzfeuer .

Hunt's last works after the Second World War are mostly B-Westerns with the corresponding genre stars. After The Hurried , one of the lesser known films with Kirk Douglas , J. Roy Hunt retired in 1953 to retire.
